NW Legal Aid criminal lawyer Donal Craig loves
having an endless supply of crime

You could say Legal Aid criminal lawyer Donal Craig has crime in the blood.

Family tradition paints his ancestors as Highland horse thieves, who spent their time 'test-driving' ponies around Scotland before the family moved to Ireland.

The great potato famine of the late 1840s found them risking the notorious 'coffin ships' which took huge numbers of the Irish across the Atlantic to the United States.

Clearly a hardy group, they finally settled in the small Illinois town of Mattoon.

There in the 1858, Mr Craig's great-grandfather opened Craig and Craig, which claims the distinction of being the oldest law firm in the United States practising in the same place.

It is still going strong, more than 160 years later.
